The Winter Showcase was this past week, and I thought it went pretty well! I had a lot more people stop at board than I thought would, which was a pleasant surprise. My mentor Mr. Holzer was able to come, which was also nice. What I thought was really cool though, was all the younger kids that came up to talk to me. When I say younger, I mean eighth grade or freshman kids. I quickly realized that it was because they were all in band, and wanted to talk about band. It made my heart happy. As I said in last week’s blog, I thought people would come up and ask me questions, but most people would walk up and wait for me to talk before asking questions. It was kind of hard at first, to just have to start talking to people about myself. I would introduce myself, and quickly explain what I had done this year. Surprisingly, a lot of people were interested in the ISM program, and the opportunities it offers students. I also enjoyed being able to walk around and see other ISM students boards before the event started. I liked seeing what other kids were studying, since I’m only used to the kids in my class.
